Exports show surprise bounce on global economic recovery
Thailand’s exports in May bounced by a better-than-expected 41.59 per cent from a year earlier, the highest rate seen in 11 years, from low base levels induced by the pandemic in 2020, the Ministry of Commerce said Thursday.
The figure beat a Reuters forecast of a 30-per-cent jump. In April the country saw an increase of 13.09 per cent year-on-year in its exports.
“Exports in May saw the highest growth in 11 years supported by global economic recovery as well as practical export strategies in collaboration with the private sector,” said Commerce Minister Jurin Laksanawisit.
